Hey there! I am sure you are wondering about us and how we got here!
So, to start with the obvious question: Are we a couple? Yes! In a chance hiring process, in 2017, we started working together managing a wedding venue, and in late 2019 (or early 2020, depending on whom you ask ;)) we officially began our relationship. We love to practice the things we share with you on each other first!.... You can ask us about our miscommunication and the day John said he would help me clean our venue storage room, but…. Anyway, we have our fair share of loud disagreements, fighting about schedules, and forgetting important events, but we know every relationship deserves to be better, actually to be fulfilling and truly satisfying!
That’s where Premarital Coaching and Life Coaching comes in.
Just like you, we have to work on our relationships. We want to walk alongside you to help you reach your goals and your potential.
The story of Committed Together in Indianapolis, Indiana, started with an observation. Wedding planning is fun…but what about planning marriages? Elli and John have worked together to host over 500+ weddings and events, and they noticed that their couples seemed to have a hard time communicating with one another effectively.
After spending so much time with these couples to create the perfect wedding day, they were horrified to find that some couples were divorcing soon after. Utilizing their training in communication and working with couples one-on-one, they began to see positive changes in their couples.
Their passion for good relationships was the reason for developing Committed Together. Whether planning for your big day or a lifetime together, communication is the key!
At Committed Together in Indianapolis, Indiana, the approach is simple. Everyone can improve by being understood by their partner and listening and hearing what the other person is really saying.
It’s the same with business. It only takes a few moments of confusion and anger to sprout massive communication problems and that usually turns into poor production. We start with a common language to express meaning and understanding. From there a foundation of common understanding can be quickly built.
Our approach is tailored to you, your life goals, and your business. No single scenario is alike. It's designed to discuss tough topics but in a non-emotional, respectful way. The goal at the end is transparency with one another, transparency with your goals in life, transparency in problem-solving, and a deepened respect for everyone involved.
I’m passionate about marriage, about relationships, about being the best version of ourselves!
My background is in Family & Consumer Science, and I’ve worked in social services, cooking, and events since graduating from college, 18 years ago. I’ve always loved information about personalities, relationships, marriage, etc., and I’ve always loved making a difference in people’s lives.
In college, my first Psychology class opened my eyes to grow and start practicing knowledge about humans and relationships, and I began to wonder, What if relationship skills could be applied to every relationship, and not just marriage? Since then, I’ve developed skills to grow in relationships, even though I’m not married! …I realized that relationships actually use the same tools, whether with a partner, parent, child, or even a coworker. The real point is to learn skills to help you understand yourself more, communicate better, and have great relationships, even if you aren’t married!
Years ago, I read Dr. John Gray’s book Men Are From Mars and Women Are From Venus. Wow! I loved starting to understand the difference between men and women! And in 2020, after going through the book again with friends struggling in their marriage, I saw in their changed relationship, the power of understanding how different men and women are. I was excited when we found out that Dr. Gray had a Life and Relationship Coaching Certification, and, finally, I could pair my love of helping people with my love of developing great relationships! And together with John Hobelman as my partner, Committed Together was born.
Specialties: Listening, helping you see yourself from a different perspective, discernment, slow and steady progress, understanding yourself and the humans around you.
I’m passionate about helping people create the life they truly want—not just following a path that was laid out for them by someone else. I believe strong, committed relationships are the foundation of a fulfilling life, and my hope is to see more couples not only stay together but thrive in their marriages.
My journey has been shaped by real-world experience. I’ve owned multiple businesses and developed deep expertise in marketing and sales, as well as logistics, transportation, and operations. These industries gave me financial stability and professional challenges, but they didn’t teach me much about relationships. To be direct—I’ve been divorced twice. Long hours on the road, financial stress, and a lack of communication skills took their toll. Learning to navigate relationships, especially with women, has been an ongoing process.
Working in the wedding industry changed my perspective. It showed me that work can be more than a paycheck—it can be meaningful and fulfilling. It also introduced me to an environment where I had to adapt and grow, working in a space dominated by women. (Yes, Dr. John Gray was right—men and women really do think differently.) But I also learned that understanding women and building a strong relationship starts with a few key principles.
Now, I use my experience to help others—whether in business, relationships, or personal growth. My focus is on practical strategies, personal development, and creating real, lasting change.
Specialties: Business strategy, marketing and sales, leadership, navigating relationships, and stepping out of the comfort zone to grow.
